Federick Richard and Beatrice Waymouth Frederick Richard Waymouth

The photo is part of the group at the wedding of Frederick's daughter, Violet, to Reginald Parry at Malta in 1911.   The bride and her parents, Beatrice and Frederick.


Frederick Richard Waymouth was the eldest of five children of Henry Waymouth and Susanna (nee Jenkins) of Plymouth.
Frederick's father, Henry married Susanna Jenkins at Plymouth in 1859.
In the 1861 census, Henry and Susanna were living at Plymouth with the family of Susanna's sister, Elizabeth Risdon.
Their first born, Frederick, was born in the following year, 1862.
In the 1871 census, Frederick, aged 8, was living at Headland Park, Plymouth with his parents and four siblings.
Frederick enrolled in the navy on 15 January 1879, aged 16.
In the 1881 census, Frederick, aged 18 was a clerk at sea with the Royal Navy.
Frederick married Beatrice Lily Wise at Stoke Damerel on 30 September 1890.   He was then aged 27, an Assistant Paymaster, Royal Navy.
In the 1891 census Frederick and Beatrice were living at 15 Portland Road, Devonport with one servant.
Their two daughters were born in 1891 and 1894.
In the 1901 census Beatrice and her two daughters were living at Saxe Weimar Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire.   Frederick is assumed to have been at sea with the navy.
During World War 1 Frederick was mentioned in despatches in 1917 and 1918.
On 31 May 1918 it was announced that The King (is) pleased, on the occasion of His Majesty's Birthday, to give directions for the following appointments to the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, in recognition of valuable services rendered during the War: .... To be Additional Members of the Third Class or Companions of the said Most Distinguished Order: Fleet-Paymaster Frederick Richard Waymouth, R.N. (CMG)
