William Charles Waymouth (Architect)
Born at Stroud Green, London on 24 Jan 1872
Died at Barnet, North London on 7 May 1967.
William Charles (known as Charles) was the eldest child and
only son of George Waymouth (Architect) and Louisa Emily
(nee Kerby) of Hornsey, London.
Charles was educated at Mill Hill School and then trained as
an architect, winning Institute of Architects medals. He set up
practice for both private and commercial clients in High
Holborn, London. He built a number of houses at Barnet, and
the family lived in one of them. During the 1939-45 war he
was one of two Diocesan architects for London and took
charge of bomb damage repairs for 32 churches.
Charles was much involved in the early missions to Uganda.
He also did much architectural work, free of charge, for his
local church.
Charles married Winifred Mather in 1897. They had two
sons and a daughter. Winifred died in 1943 and in 1944
Charles married Olive Catherine Marks.
