Joseph was a mason and the birthplaces of his children indicate that he and Alice moved around England where work was available. They were in Dewsbury in 1828, Manchester in 1836, Chorley, Lancs in 1841, Westerleigh, Glos. in 1843 and Burnley, Lancs, in 1849 when Joseph died. Alice then moved to Batley with her two surviving sons and remarried (Joseph Fox) in 1850. Both sons married at Dewsbury, Abraham in 1862 and Jacob in 1864. The family had adopted the spelling "Blamires" by the late 1800s. |
