Left: Robert Laurie, son of William and Mary Laurie, born at Paisley
in 1829 and died at Auckland in 1899. He and his future wife, Elizabeth, were
children on board the Duchess of Argyle in 1842.
Right: Elizabeth Laurie (nee Allison), daughter of James and Margaret Allison, born at Paisley in 1836 and died at Auckland in 1911. Married Robert Laurie at Auckland in 1854. |

Laurie brickyards The Laurie brothers subdivided and sold most of their land on the south side of Karangahape Road in 1863. The brickyards there were closed and this yard was set up on the Whau River. Bricks remaining on the shoreline mark the location at the north end of Hepburn Road. |
